You can lower the speed in Windows, but depending on the mouse, it'll have ways to lower the DPI on the mouse itself.

Lower it via the driver the mouse came with, or if it's driverless, there should be a physical button to switch between DPI presets. Always use 6/11 in the Windows mouse settings.

You could lower the Windows sensitivity, but it's not generally recommended unless your mouse happens to actually perform better at a higher DPI and you have no other option. This mostly hasn't been relevant in like 10 years due to highly adjustable DPI and mouse being generally less buggy.

There is no such thing as "good gaming DPI", regardless of what someone might tell you. What you might have is mice that use software tricks to achieve higher values of DPI or more precise values of DPI. In those cases, they would perform worse at these "non-native" values of DPI.

This is where a bunch of people start screaming about 400 dpi because pros use it. Which they do for teh same reason they use lower screen resolutions; it's something they are used to using from times when 1080p wasn't a thing and 400 dpi was all you got.

I own and use, sorted from newest to oldest: SteelSeries 6Gv2. Microsoft SideWinder X4. Mionix Naos 7000. Zowie EC1 Evo. Microsoft SideWinder X8. Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0. Dell U2414H. Samsung P2270H. AKG K273 Pro. Sennheiser HD555. Razer Goliathus Speed Medium. Func 1030 L. Qpad CT Medium.

I used to own: Razer DeathAdder 3G. Razer Krait. IntelliMouse Optical 1.1. SteelSeries QcK.

Usually something in the range of 800-1500.

Some people even prefer a lower or higher DPI than that. For example I usually play at around 2500 DPI.

dang im normally around 1800 to 2000 and anything higher is a bit out of control for me lol though i do play some games at 2400.

why do they make the mouse 6000

Cause higher numbers sound better. It's for marketing.

I already decreased it a lot. A few years ago I was at 4300. But now I'm getting old ._.''
