Hi guys. I need help with recommendations on OS and software i need to use setting up a small NAS/ Gaming/ media server.

The NAS ill use for personal backups and storage

The gaming server going to run arma 2 dayz mod and CSGO server. 30 player for both max. Just for close friends

The media server. for content streaming if i can set it to buffer say netflicks but not essential. Have tons of media.

Guys will it be possible to run all that of one machine. What server OS will i need to run that.

Hardware that im thinking of running is

Cpu 8 core AMD

Ram 16 to 32 gb

HDD for 4tb WD red for NAS.

HdD 2 times 1tb WD red for gaming server raid 1? For redundancy

HDD 4 tb WD for media server

And then want to have back up of all on raid 1 4x4 tb WD red.

SSDs for operating systems raid 0?

Will all that work guys

See what OS your game servers are compatible with. and check if your up/down speed is acceptable for the number of slots you're holding.

For the NAS, any linux distro with NFS server will do (client can be both Windows or Linux, on windows, simply map a network drive and set a backup scheduled job). If you want to get fancy, use OwnCloud or AeroFS for your own "dropbox" like experience.

And make sure you can control your IP. static would be best, if not you're going to have to use dynamic DNS.

Buy an older workstation or server and outfit it with newer hardware. Something like an HP Z800 and put some new Hard drives in it.

Fine you want the PSU tier list? Have the PSU tier list: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40-rev-103/

Hi guys thanks for assistance need little more help. Well the Dayz server needs to be on a windows environment so will windows server be able to offer me all that i need. I was looking at Plex server while its nice. to have your library neatly sorted with thumbnails it does not help when family comes over and want to stream pictures and home made videos to there devices as i would need to add every single person. Is there any way around that, will creating a web interface sort it out or is that to much effort?
