Crazy Computer Technician Story

Hey Everyone,

So I was at university today and my using my own laptop on the universities Internet connection. For some reason google was blocked when using google chrome so I decided to go to the computer Technician. When I arrived he was sitting there eating McDonalds (9.00 am) and talking to his wife on the phone. I told him my problem and he took my laptop. He was looking at it for 5 mins before he saw Firefox installed on my computer... He then started shouting at me and interrogating me asking why I had it installed on my computer acting like it was some crime. He told me Firefox didn't work with the network, and I told him that I only use it a home. He then proceeded to fix the Internet and then uninstall Firefox on my own computer. He handed me back my computer and said "if I find Firefox on your computer again I will sue you". Yes he threatened to sue me. I still have no idea why he got so angry about one program. What do you guys think? Any similar stories?

Kind of related but I work at a school and we've had to block google for months on all internet traffic going through our proxy.

And it's folks like that who give IT people bad names. Threatening to sue you over what you do on your own computer, with a free program nonetheless? Give me a break.

 

On topic, I don't have any stories relating to weird encounters with IT departments.

Tell him to go f himself, he can try to sue all he wants.

I would have looked at him like he is a crazy person. Because he is a crazy person.
