Benjio

Already have a 7850 graphics card, an old Asus case, and a 1 TB hard drive. I'm hoping to spend as little as possible, trying to keep it under $350 at the most. I'm a little unsure about the motherboard, so some suggestions on that would be great!

You really don't need an aftermarket cooler though.

Mobo is good, I recommend the Hyper 212 EVO over the 212 Plus. Also you don't need that fast of memory, and I recommend a G2/GS/P2 PSU from EVGA instead of the 600B. Also the TS series from XFX and a lot from Seasonic.

The RAM is the cheapest 8 GB available, will it cause any problems because it is faster? Will the motherboard automatically underclock it when it first starts up?

Thanks for the suggestions guys! So I take it you don't find too many disadvantages of using that cheap of a motherboard? And are H81 and B85 much worse than H97?

If you're really trying to cut costs then you could kill the aftermarket cpu cooler all together. That cpu isn't overclockable and the stock heatsink/fan will do just fine keeping it cool. I'd say pocket the extra $20 if you're really going for a budget build.

No this motherboard is on sale.

B85 is better than a H81 and H97.

Are you guys sure there is no negative to using such a cheap motherboard?
(I'm also using no rebates, which is why I chose this motherboard)

Other than some features will be missing like some I/O ports, USB 3.0 headers...etc it's fine.

Awesome, thanks. I was mostly worried about compatibility with the cpu and whether it would throttle the cpu.

That motherboard is a steal for that price.

It's not a cheap motherboard. It's better than what you chose.

Consider getting that.

Nothing like that.

Even if you get a $300 Z97 motherboard, it'll be the same.
