PLEASE READ BELOW BEFORE YOU JUST THROW YOUR VOTE INTO THE POLL.

So as I have mentioned before, my Samsung 850 EVO gets here on Tuesday. I want to make the transition to the SSD (I will be replacing my shitty HDD with the SSD) as smoothly as possible and I want the SSD to work as optimally as possible. Should I do a data migration (or mirror) using Samsung's Data Migration Tool, or should I clean install Windows 10 and then re-download all of my games and files?

Advantages to data migration

-Takes about an hour and no babysitting my PC while it does

-Everything will be exactly as I left it (but that includes any bad stuff like corrupted files or something)

-Doesn't use any extra data (my parents get mad at me for hogging the bandwidth)

Disadvantages

-It will move over any potentially corrupted stuff

-It will not be as fast as a clean install due to the different ways an HDD and SSD handle data

-I can't use that dank Ultra Fast Boot feature since my current Windows install is not UEFI.

Advantages to a clean install

-I can install a GPT partition so I can finally use the Ultra Fast Boot on my B85M-ITX

-No corrupted files will move over, everything is replaced

-Everything will be organized better on the SSD as an HDD constructs it's file system differently

Disadvantages

-Take a shit ton of time (hours and hours, and then days for me to get all of the games downloaded)

-I have to be there the entire time to install stuff

-Uses a lot of Internet data (even though we have unlimited data it still uses well over 400GB since I will be re-downloading my games)

Oh, and for those of you that are going to say 'just move your games from your HDD to the SSD... Last time I did this, my games didn't copy over well and a lot of them ended up not working. This led me to clean install again as I had to basically wipe Windows to get them all working again. Some of you may remember my story about EA, that's why I'm not just copying them over.

Thanks!

Well I have all week to do it. It's just a matter of whether or not a clean install is really worth it.

not rlly, i have done both and honestly clean is just a pain to install everything

just go with migrate

You listed that you'd have to download all the games, WHY would you do that?

Just move the games to some free partition and then perform Clean Installation the move it to wherever you want.

Clean Installation is the best imo. You don't have to worry about Slow boot time, slow responses, junks, leftovers liek that.

Intel Core i3 2100 @ 3.10GHz - Intel Stock Cooler - Zotac Geforce GT 610 2GB Synergy Edition

Intel DH61WW - Corsair® Value Select 4GBx1 DDR3 1600 MHz - Antec BP-300P PSU

WD Green 1TB - Seagate 2.5" HDD 1TB - Seagate Barracuda 500GB - Antec X1 E.

I'd do it if you've got lots on the old HDD- Mine was full of junk, so I did a clean install onto a new HDD and then migrated from that (I know, It doesn't make sense, I had certain issues) I was just saying the software is great :)

Okay. I think the clean install is the way to go then. It's gonna take a while but I'll have clean OS I suppose, and I will have UEFI :)

Yep. Got it for Christmas, migrated from crappy old Seagate 5400rpm 500gb with 11,000 hours on it to a 850 evo 250gb+wd blue 1tb. :)

Oh sweet! Yeah I got my 850 EVO 500GB for Christmas but I ordered it from Amazon. I too will be migrating from a Seagate 5400RPM 500GB (SO slow).
