I couldn't find drivers for the i219-v connection, so where would I get them?

Is connections manager reporting connection? If its reporting media state disconnected with a working cable, or there are no lights whatsoever on the ethernet port, that could be faulty.

However if device manager is reporting an issue on the nic, download drivers, load it to the pc somewhere, uninstall the driver from device manager, and restart. Reinstall the driver when windows prompts you so.

However, if drivers are installed and connections manager reports connected, check if your buddy hard set any ip addressing on his rig.

I uninstalled and reinstalled it, but it didn't do anything. It does say connected to the router, but it isn't actually connected to the internet.

Run ipconfig and cross reference between your ipv4 address and your buddy.

So its showing connected (just no internet connection) ?

If so do you have an IP adress? (CMD > IPCONFIG /ALL) If you do try to renew it by IPCONFIG /RELEASE then IPCONFIG /RENEW.
