Hey guys, im building a pc with my sister (trying to get her interested in stuff like this as she has expressed interest before) anyway she has £100 so she cant buy much so im going to builg a 'starter' pc which she can upgrade overtime, i saw linus' server pc for gaming (as she intends on gaming) and ive found this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TYAN-TEMPEST-i5000XT-S2696A-2x-XEON-QUAD-CORE-2-3GHz-CPU-16GB-RAM-/321955302819?hash=item4af6080da3:g:w-kAAOSwo3pWeFfT

my question is, if i buy a normal atx psu with a molex to 8pin adapter would that work? furthermore, any case recommendations? any replies would be appreciated thank you

EDIT: Do normal OS' Work on this?

I'd buy something consumer grade.

The server PC gaming was more food for thought than something practical to be honest.

WHY DO YOU USE ALL CAPS IN THE TITLE

seems sketchy tho.

I agree but other things are more expensive, we where going to go for AMD 860k but it works out a lot more

Honestly it will just come back to bite you. any upgrades will be a pain, you wont get any support and they're not designed as a user friendly platform. And you'll need to find a case that can fit an SSI-CEB board comfortably.

People sell 860 & 760Ks used quite a lot for ~£35 (you can buy now for ~45 usually- the shop CEX also sells them at £40) and new boards start at like £35, have USB3.0, modern I/O, EFI type bios etc and will fit in a cheap case.

Used is great, I just work with a fair amount of 771 server stuff at work and know it's a pain to deal with. Not really ideal for a home system IMHO.
