Care to expand? I though the G1 gigabyte cards were fairly good overclockers.

OC depends on silicon lottery. @Godlygamer23 had a Gigabrick card that failed to achieve advertised boost clocks I believe

Also, coil whine city! They have the single highest rate of coil whine. Customer support is also lacking and the fan motors used are loud as fuck

I don't think I ever said that. In fact, it overclocks to 1.5GHz. It's currently set to 1.46GHz.

Then who had the card that failed factory boost? I was almost sure it was you.

It's definitely not me.

I see. Sorry to have bothered you. I will have to find the thread in Tech News where this was discussed and see who it was. Again, sorry for the misconception.

The gtx 970 ftw ran out of stock so I got a 980 g1 gaming. How is the 980 g1? attachicon.gif1451145085768-115827789.jpg

That should be a pretty killer gpu. It looks like a pretty beefy pcb with all those power phases.

Plus you can go to much higher power limits with the GTX 980 than the GTX 970 I believe. I know the 970 seems to be capped at 110% TDP, but I think you can go to 130% TDP on a 980. And then that huge cooler and backplate should keep temps pretty nice.

The Windforce 970 goes up to 112%.
