Which laptop would be snappier overall?

Laptop A:

 

Something from the Acer Aspire E5 14-inch lineup

 

Intel Core i5-5200U

NVIDIA GeForce 940M

4GB RAM

500GB HDD

 

 

 

Laptop B:

 

Baseline ASUS ZenBook UX305FA

 

Intel Core M-5Y10

Intel HD 5300 Graphics

4GB RAM

128GB SSD

I personally would probably pick the ZenBook.  But the Aspire would be way better if you just bought a $50 SSD and threw in it.

That's gonna be impossible. My parents are super-strict. They're just gonna buy one for me and that's it. They're only gonna bother spending money the 2nd time getting it fixed if I break it. They're that frugal.

 

Anyways, I'm gonna use the laptop on uni. I'm gonna do some gaming like CS:GO and light video-editing with Premiere. Which would be the better buy?

it really depends on what you wanna do on it. if you wanna do any type of gaming or video editing, go for the Acer. But if you just need ultraportable and light and thin build, go for the zenbook

Drop it while copying data over, that will breat the HDD then get a SSD and slap in it.
