Hello all,

I was wondering if it would be wise to spend a couple hundred euro's on second hand graphic card(s),before I upgrade to the "1080ti" in Q3 2016.

I am thinking about an 680 or maybe 660s in sli.

If its Q3 I want to sell the 680, and the money I made during that summer, invest into the newest GPU.

Currently in my system:

Z97 ASUS ROG HERO VII

Intel 4790k @4.4 ghz (base clock, not turbo, disabled it)

Corsair RM1000 (bought for sli 1080ti's later and got great deal)

Asus 550ti 1024mb @900mhz

16 gb DDR3 hyperx memory @ 1866mhz

3TB WD black

256GB PCI-E ssd (don't know which brand exacly)

So the question is, is it worth for the time being to buy one second hand, or just wait and invest the money somewhere else?

Playing mostly BF4 and Shadow of mordor.

(I am going for the green side btw for CUDA programming)

Thanks in advance!

My current rig:

CPU :Intel I7 4790K , MOBO: Asus Maximus Hero VII , STORAGE: Plextor m6e 256Gb + WD Black 3Tb, GPU(s): 1x ASUS STRIX GTX 1060, PSU: Corsair RM1000 , CASE: Fractal Design S.

Fair enough, but should I wait for the 1080 then?

Get a 980 Ti

I would if I got the money now, but I only have a couple of hundred euro's now. The money I want to invest in the new GPU I am planning to get in the summer from my job (have a guaranteed full time job in the coming summer).

Not sure. I'd honestly grab a R9 380X as that's enough to max 1080p now and will likely last 2-3 years easily

Like I said in my post, I need to have a card from the green team because I program in CUDA for my education. I want to use my desktop for that as well

780 Ti is probably your best bet.

I searched for them, and they go around at about 300 euro's right now, so about 970 price.

Edit:

And they are now above my budget
