So tomorrow I am going to pick up more acrylic sheet (Plexiglass) to finish off my window mod on my SG05. The way I want to mount the window is by cutting the acrylic window a few mm larger on the edges than the hole in the side panel, that way I can glue the window to the side panel from the outside, so you can see the edges of the acrylic window and all.

The first time around I did this using a special 5-minute epoxy that dries crystal clear, but I could not for the life of me get an even layer around the edge and ended up applying way too much and smearing it all over the window. Terrible. So I cut that out and made the hole bigger, and I'm going to just put in a bigger window. But this time I want a different adhesive to use on the window.

I'd like something that I can apply extremely evenly and the adhesive itself is very thick, almost like gasket maker or silicon bathroom sealant, to make it looks sharp and clean, but at the same time be crystal clear and dry/set quickly like super glue or 5-minute epoxy. The key is that it doesn't run or spread quickly, but I can apply force and it will evenly spread and dry nicely, but also isn't so thick that it makes the window sit too far away from the side panel. Any ideas?

Here is what the side panel looked like before I made a mess with the glue (I just set it in place to take a picture for a previous thread, it's not glued on, but that's the way I'd like it to look):

And here is what I have now (I had to repaint the entire panel since the stupid epoxy got everywhere and I had to sand it):

So, what do you guys recommend I use for adhesive? I'll have a similar but slightly larger acrylic window like in the first photo, but a bit bigger than the hole I cut in the second photo, probably 5mm bigger all around.

Thanks in advance! Sorry if my PC looks dirty in the second photo, I really need to wipe it down.

Oh, and now that I think about it, I posted in the wrong subforum. Mods, if you could please move this to Case Modding that would be great. Thanks!

You'll be able to see the tape from the outside of the case, and I don't think there is any that comes in very narrow width and that is also crystal clear.

cant the glass be mounted on the inside?

No, the frame of the chassis is in the way and I want the edge of the acrylic to be seen outside of the case. Gives it a sharp look.

Look at the first photo in my OP, that's how it sits on the side panel. You can see that the window is slightly bigger than the hole that I cut and the glue fits in between there. If you look at my second photo you'll be able to see the frame and how close (basically touching) it is to the side panel and how I can't stick a piece of acrylic between them.

Use a dab of epoxy and a really strong magnets on each corner. magnet goes on the underside of the acrylic, one on each corner. Should hold nicely, since the side panel is metal. If magnets don't stick, just epoxy another one on the inside of the case so the two magnets look for each other.

Good idea using magnets to clamp it, I will definitely do that.
