6700K

If you are going to be playing open world games then this is the best you can have.

An AMD cpu has no place in a solely gaming build, end of.

I3 4150, Intel HD graphics, corsair CX750M, 4gb ram, Asus H81M-E, corsair 230T, Intel stock cooler WD Green 2TB Gigabyte 550TI

Why you shouldn't trust Gpu or Cpu boss Click on this I dare you!

But this chip isn't very cost effective, so I rather recommend an i5-6600K.

Neither is the 6600K in terms of being cost effective, if you want cost effectivness either buy a 4690K or 4790K.

If you want fucking cost effectiveness, then you have to look at each build individually and consider the user's needs.

Apart from that it seems like you've misread my sentence, cause I never said that a 6600k is cost effective.

New to PC building, I've got a very bland question: What is the best gaming processor out there right now? I plan to overclock it and cool it with the NZXT Kraken x61.

Seriously though, i would get a 4790k or a 6700k if you can afford it.

5820k is actually cheaper than 6700k right now, so that would be the best optio.

AMD Ryzen R7 1700 (3.8ghz) w/ NH-D14, EVGA RTX 2080 XC (stock), 4*4GB DDR4 3000MT/s RAM, Gigabyte AB350-Gaming-3 MB, CX750M PSU, 1.5TB SDD + 7TB HDD, Phanteks enthoo pro case

The absolute best depends on your GPU setup. If you're going for more than 2-way SLI, then i7-5960X. If not, then i7-6700K. However, most of us don't recommend using anymore than 2 concurrent GPUs at any given time because the scaling for multi-way graphics cards tends to get poorer the more GPUs you have.

The best for your money would be the i5-4690K, but the i7 chips really seem to be showing an advantage recently, as shown by Digital Foundry's benchmarks.

Disclaimer: The video doesn't show the clock speeds for the 6600K and 6700K, so they could be running at totally different clock speeds.

Definitely intel processor ( for cpu demanding title) intel 6600k seems to be a good choice for gaming.

OP said for gaming right? 4790K gets maybe 1-2 frames more than 4690K definitely not worth spending extra $100 imo.

Actually, more threads are starting to be used in games now. Newer games can use hyperthreading.

Good point. Forgot about the hyper threading optimization increasing in the i7. :P

I guess if you plan to use this computer for a while the 4790k is the way to go.

If you're building a high end system what's the point of saving $100 when it's not a large fraction of the total cost? And the extra fps can be a lot more than you're giving credit for, it's not 2013 anymore where threads 5-8 just sit idle. On a 60 Hz monitor it won't make much of a difference to get an i7 instead of an i5, but what if you're looking to get the Occulus Rift where you need a smooth 90 fps? The 4790k is more capable of hitting that at ultra than the 4690k is. On a somewhat tight budget the i7 is rarely worth it over the i5, but making such a blanket statement covering all price ranges is wrong.
