Black Screen at boot with A2 error

Go to solution Solved by TheAbel,

A2, IDE Detect, error code means it's having trouble detecting or reading connected drives. This often occurs during initial boot of a new build if multiple drives are connected before an OS is installed.

Try disconnecting all drives and go into the BIOS, load defaults. Reboot...

Hi,

When I start my computer I instantly get an blackscreen with the error code A2 in the bottom right corner. I've tried resetting cmos and changing my SATA cable to SATA 1.

After I had done these things i actually managed to get to the log in screen when hadn't plugged in my GPU.

This isn't a new build (3-4 months old) but i recently reinstalled my windows because my SSD died. I installed all the drivers for my motherboard and GPU and after that i only get the blackscreen.

If someone has solved this problem please let me know.

Specs:

  • Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
  • MSI SLI KRAIT (I think I have the newest version off BIOS)
  • Intel i5 4690k
  • 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance RAM
  • GTX 970 STRIX OC edition
  • Seagate Desktop SSHD ST1000DX001 1TB (Boot drive)
  • Corsair CX750M 750W

I managed to get into BIOS when I changed the position off my SATA cables from SATA 5 to SATA 1 and had my GPU disconnected. And should i connect my hardrive again after i've loaded defaults?

Yes, or try it with only your OS drive connected.
