Hi. I've been planning this build for a while now after a long thought. I'm from Asia so I can't rely on PcPartPicker to purchase the components. I'll be purchasing from local stores.

I chose one 8GB ram because I'll buy another stick in the near future. I was also planning on upgrading my graphics card maybe a year later. That's why I chose 550W PSU. Let me know what you think.

Thank you.

Are you planning on gaming? If so you'll need to allocate more money to the GPU

You might be better off getting a higher wattage PSU over a gold rating, or just get a cheaper PSU with the same wattage, seems like a bit of wasted budget tbh

Other than that, looks nice m'dude *tips fedora*

It's good but I'd replace the i5 with a 4460, save money there with DDR3 and older stuff like that, then put in an Antec HCG 520W or XFX TS, or, if it's cheap today, the Seasonic G-series.

So many people get wound up over PSUs on LTT... It's crack up. Corsair, EVGA both make fantastic PSUs. I'd recommend sticking with something 500W or more, bronze or higher rated.

The build looks great. I support the move to Haswell, but it doesn't matter too much you won't notice the difference other than missing $$ from your bank acc. I'd recommend adding a small 120GB or 250GB SSD as you'll notice the biggest difference in performance by adding an SSD.

Probably worth getting a GPU with 4GB of VRAM.

Yes. I was planning on building Haswell as well. But an employee at a local pc store told me that Skylake is future proof and stuff. It also seems to have max turbo frequency of 3.6 Ghz which sounds better. Now I'm torn between Skylake and Haswell. Haswell also seems to have more bang for the buck.

It's cheap with good reviews all around and there won't be any overclocking on the CPU anyways

All skylake really gives you is USB 3.1, and a 5% IPC jump, so virtually nothing you'll notice in games as a haswell i5 will already be fairly capable of hitting 60fps and over

It's cheap, yes, but good user reviews mean nothing at all. You see plenty of good reviews on Diablotek units and that doesn't make them good, does it! With a hot GPU like a 380 a good PSU should be considered,

Haswell is currently a better choice.

Those are probably fine for a build using less than 100W

but the one I have has like a thousand reviews almost on amazon, it should get the job done, at 100% the card is going to draw like 200W, so it'll be a fair bit less than that with a game running

I'm not talking about wattage. It's for low-end builds and the W1 is pretty crappy. It's worse than a *gasp* CX-series and I wouldn't put a CX-series in this build.

Swap PSU with a Seasonic S12 or XFX TS/Antec HCG and I see no problem. You may want an SSD down the road just to let you know ;)
