im a nuub when it comes to configuring softwares tbh. i didnt know u can stream on twitch with shadowplay .

Yup. Its super simple. Not a lot you can do with it as far as adding chat to your overlay or anything like that. you pretty much show your gameplay and a webcam if you want and thats it, but its wayyyy lower of a performance hit than OBS or Xsplit.

While that is true, for someone who just is using it to show gameplay moments to friends across country, it works really well.

yeah, that's probably its only real upside compared to OBS

If he already has the parts then putting a capture card in the old pc and using that as the uploader would pretty much remove his issues and he could stream at higher quality.

I mean unless all the other streamers with dual setups and crystal clear streams are just doing it wrong, you should probably get messaging them so they can save money.

thats the thing. i have the parts..but there is a reason i have a new pc. the old one just stoped working one day. tho i havent tried to start it since then.

they dont need to save money

they MAKE money by sreaming so they don't have a problem spending $5k+ on multiple systems to be able to overlay effects, scenes, and other stuff with their thousand dollar capture cards

I highly doubt OP wants to spend $1k on a capture card than does slightly higher resolution when 720p is enough for him

I also doubt he is doing this for a living

If your not looking to get fancy and simply just want to show gameplay and maybe a webcam then its hard to beat Shadowplay. If your wanting to do like titlecards or adding chat to the screen or something then yes, shadowplay is not for you.

ive google like good configuration for obs on google. but then again..as i said on another post..im a nuub when it comes to configuring that stuff

why are you using OBS if you have an nvidia GPU...

shadowplay streams very well and actually doesn't cause a large performance impact

and btw if you're doing streaming as a job you should probably use xsplit, not OBS

Like this guy said. Shadowplay is pretty good unless your going all-out streaming and trying to make money, then nothing beats Xsplit.

Again, I wonder why people use OBS as you say it's not to be used if you're doing it for a job yet Jayztwocents, Eatmydiction, Goldglove, and a metric fuck tonne of others use OBS, in fact EMD blamed OBS for fucking his streams up, Xsplit hooked him up with a free subscription and he's gone back to OBS, the problem was his PC...

just because a few people have a different personal preference does not mean that it is better

linus now uses xsplit for the wan show

A lot of other streamers ALSO use xsplit because of how well the scenes work for it

if someone has a different personal preference, and OBS works for them, then great

but obviously is this case OP is having issues with performance using OBS, so using something else might actually work better for him

And why do you keep telling me to message them? What does this topic have to do with those pro streamers??

This is about OP not having good performance when using OBS...

Maybe you can't read properly or something?

I think Xsplit is considered better, but its a bit more intricate to set up, which can put people off from it, but once its set up its better.

No it's just you're putting your opinion forward as facts, when in actual fact they're opinion. You prefer Xsplit which is great, good for you but you're saying to the OP not to spend cash on a capture card but a subscription to xsplit is dandy when in actual fact OBS will work fine and is free. If I may go OT for a second, in another thread you stated A-LRT leeched plastisizer then linked me to several threads, 2 of which were P-LRT mixed up with A-LRT and one of them wasn't even Primochill tubing... I even went back into one of the threads you posted and asked them is A-LRT still the recommended which they replied it is...

Lets dive back into this topic...

why are you using OBS if you have an nvidia GPU...

shadowplay streams very well and actually doesn't cause a large performance impact

and btw if you're doing streaming as a job you should probably use xsplit, not OBS

  • Why is this relevant? OP wants to use the features OBS offers that Shadow doesn't.
  • Then why are people who are doing it as a job, using OBS instead?

its probably the software you're using then because that PC can stream perfectly fine

I've streamed at full quality before with a PC worst than that and shadowplay worked perfectly, barely any performance impact

so no, its not your PC, its your software and configuration

also upgrading that second PC to stream will cost more than just a few additions to your main PC

which would give you even better quality than using a second PC

ive done 720p 60fps before...

no partner

  1. How do you know it was a software issue, could OBS of been misconfig'ed? Also a game could of been taxing the CPU?
  2. Can we get a price list on some capture cards so we can help the OP consider which option would be worthwhile?
  3. Shadow or xsplit?

Not sure what makes it better, having used both I definitely preferred OBS, a few others I know have tried both and decided OBS was better.

1) majority prefers xsplit, nothing you can say against that

2) ive have seen hundreds of people have issues with OBS, and pretty much none about xsplit if they tells you anything...

3) im not saying he should use something else, I'm syaing he should TRY something else because I'm 99% sure it is OBS causing his "performance issues"

4) a GTX970 and 4790k can perfectly stream at full resolution 60fps with no performance issues, so clearly OBS is the problem here

5) it is YOUR personal opinion that OBS is better, and you're the minority, so just because you prefer OBS doesn't mean OP can only ever use OBS because OBS is the absolute and only option and using anything other than OBS will be horrible

6) instead of arguing with me which piece of software is better go and help OP fix his OBS issue if you're such an OBS pro

7) OP does NOT need to spend money on a capture card for his second PC because his main PC can stream perfectly fine

8) OP is not streaming as a job and making money so he does not need a dual-PC setup like pro-streamers use

9) i mentioned shadowplay because it is a great way to test if you PC can actually stream with little performance impact

if shadowplay works for him then that confirms it is an OBS issue

and i'm sure that his really good main PC will stream extremely well with shadowplay

I have checked xplit's free version stats and i consider them kinda weak, on the other hand the payed ones do look nice but OBS offers me all of that for free and tbh..all the streamers i watch ( Jericho, Omgitsfirefox, AnderZEL, Nick Bunyuon, not sure about Docgotgame but im 50% sure he uses OBS too.) use OBS and they have alot of people watching their streams. No I believe that each of those programs has a use and shock horror Endy, I've used them all, I even pay for creative cloud lol, however, obs does what Xsplit does just for free and I found it a lot better for my use and so have so many more people even those you state shouldn't use it. I too have asked pro streamers what they use and they reply OBS.

Just because something is free, doesn't automatically make it any less equal to that of a paid service. And you can take that straight to the bank.

OBS has a chat on their site that will have people help you set it up correctly as per your specs and data speeds aka connection. They helped my gf set hers up on her iMac when she streams Minecraft. You need to find a balance between CPU usage and connection usage, once you've got it nicely balanced, you should be golden.
