Mysterious Framerate Issues

AviatorSam

About a month ago, a friend of mine gave me a new graphics card as a gift. It was working well. Temperatures were under control, and I could run Team Fortress 2 at near max graphics settings and native resolution and manage 60 or more frames per second. However, as of late, that's all gone down the toilet. The quality has gone down to the point that I have to run TF2 at 1600x900 resolution and medium graphics just to get a decent framerate (30 to 60 frames). It might be the graphics card, and it might be the Tough Break update that recently came out for Team Fortress 2. I want to know if there's any way to be sure, and if I can fix this problem in any way.

My processor is an AMD FX-6300 Six-Core Processor 3.52GHz.

I have 8 GB of RAM.

What's the GPU u got?
Do you see any thermal throttle?

How about GPU drivers, maybe you recently updated them too?

My GPU is a AMD Radeon HD 6900 Series

No, I didn't see any drastic increase of temperature during gameplay.

No GPU drivers have been updated as of late, as far as I know.

okey then, did you see this kind of drop with other games aswell?

Tell me what are your graphic and cpu temperatures under stress tests like prime and Valley?

Also try to update the GPU drivers, to see whether they are at latest revision.

Step by step we will get to the culprit :)

I'd check task manager to see if anything is using up your computer's resources while you're playing and also I'd use something like MSI Afterburner to check GPU usage, core frequency and such.

If things look okay then I'd use DDU (display driver uninstaller) to completely remove the drivers and reinstall them.

If that doesn't work I'd uninstall the drivers again and try a driver from a few revisions back.

I tried the crimson drivers, and I can already tell that I really do not like them.

did you try this specific one, cause others don't support your GPU.

And what about them do you not like?
