I had a PCPartPicker going and saw that there was no price for the XFX 550W power supply. I might be building soon so I need a replacement. I've been eyeing the CX500W, thoughts?

No.  Look into a Seasonic S12II.

It's a good budget unit; however, I would suggest the Fractal Design Edison M 450w instead. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817580017

It is based on the Seasonic G platform, that will offer better build quality, electrical performance, efficiency, and functionally (semi-modular). It also has a FDB fan that will be less susceptible to bearing noises at low RPM.
