Heya,

so, today Windows decided to install a massive amount of updates (apparently it hadn't done so for a few weeks because I automatically schedule shutdowns and that didn't work for updates, apparently?)

I immediately had problems with my GPU driver - and also with some old game  - so I thought that maybe that update just broke compatibility with the old (September) driver I'd been using because the new drivers caused issues. So I went ahead and finally got the new one.

Which was screwey. So I rolled back.

I still have numerous problems, i.e. "Display driver not responding and has recovered" all the time and I've had one BSOD and an OrangeSOD (anyone had that before?)...

I'd really like to be able to use my GPU properly, without my system randomly freezing and driver issues and whatnot. Specs:

Lenovo Y50

4710HQ

860m

16GB RAM

I don't know if I have to hate MS or nvidia for this, so even that would be nice info... for now, I'll just hate both. ^_^

Cheers,

John

355.60 > 359.12

Some Y50s become literally bricked

well, then i've had an extreme amount of luck with both my nvidia based laptops.

The same reason I've not had a single driver issues from 2010-2014 with AMD even though their 2010 drivers were awful? :P

i havent as much had issues with amd drivers, i mostly had issues with my card refusing to do vsync, and basicly ripping itself apart because of it...

Thanks. I didn't follow because I still had the tab open, but it was tea time anyway ;)

i swear to god every one of these i find seems to have one problem or another...

It's actually the first time I had an issue with it apart from an earlier nvidia driver that was cack. I really don't think it's the Y50 that's bad here but more a combination of nvidia drivers and Windows updates - which is not really a surprise, to be honest.

355.60 > 359.12

Some Y50s become literally bricked

Wait, what? I knew they screwed up drivers a lot, but THAT much?

Use 355.60 and you should be fine. Anything past that is risky
