De facto standard is Intake in front and sides, exhaust in back or top. If you want to look at the fans themselves, they have arrows pointing out fan rotation and airflow direction. The arrows are usually on the side of the fan frame.

The bit where the fan attaches to the frame (called the fan hub) is usually on the back of the fan, so he airflow will be going that way.

 

Tldr, if you look at the fan with the writing facing you, it will push the air toward you.
