I need some help, I am doing this little thing where I am trying to calculate the propulsion of an engine, the thing is it is a nuclear pulsar engine, I know that it releases a Tsar Bomba (50 megatons yield) every 5 seconds to propel itself, how much thrust is that thing going to have? I'm talking a Tsar Bomba here, so the same materials used for detonation. The detonation will happen 10 meters away from the bottom of the shock absorber. How much thrust will this thing have?

 

P.S: If you know a forum or someone that can answer this question plz link it to me.

megatons is a measure of energy

so take energy/time (which is 5 seconds) and find a conversion to thrust

This calculation will have to take into account several variables you haven't mentioned. Such as how close is the detonation away from the back of the craft, the mass and volume of the craft, is it already in motion or starting from stand still, close to or away from a large gravity well?

 

The amount of energy an explosive releases upon detonation does not easily convert into thrust.

Where do you live? Any "private project" that requires you to know how much thrust a Tzar Bomba going off every 5 seconds is a cause for concern. Unless its Kerbal Space Program, I don want to live close to you.
