I installed windows 10 on my dad's computer. He got an computer with G31 chipset. Then I created partition and install windows 7 on it. One time I deleted the whoole partition, because no longer need it. After it, in windows boot manager I have to choose between 7 and 10 wven if I deleted partition with 7. Because 7 is highlighted and i cannot moce because and mouse are not reactive (I think because that chipset is really old). When it choose 7 after 30 seconds it shows up, still in boot manager, "Windows failed to start". How do I change it to 10 or delete that 7 out of the boot manager?

Thanks.

Use the keyboard like altecice said if you can. If you manage to get to windows 10 go to disk cleanup and select "Delete old versions of windows" or something on the lines of that. I dont know if it will work though

Wow this was old as heck, Need to update this signature!

It sounds like your boot manager is jacked up. If you have an windows install or repair cd/usb drive throw it in, but instead of installing select the 'Repair' option. You want to do a 'Startup Repair' and see if that takes care of it. It might not, but that's gonna be your best place to start.

Microsoft's instructions for how to do this are:

To run Startup Repair from the Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE), follow these steps:

  1. Insert the Windows installation disc into the disc drive, and then start the computer.
  2. Press a key when the message聽Press any key to boot from CD or DVD聽appears.
If your PC does not detect the media automatically
    1. During the restart process, read the screen for any instructions that explain how to interrupt normal startup and enter the basic input/output system (BIOS) setup utility. Most PCs use the F2, F10, ESC, or DEL key to begin the BIOS Setup.
    2. Look for a tab in the BIOS Setup Utility that is labeled聽Boot Order,聽Boot Options, or聽Boot. Following the directions on the screen, use the arrow keys to go to the聽Boot Order, then press Enter.
    3. Locate the CD, DVD, or USB flash drive (this might be called Removable Device) in the Boot list. Following the directions on the screen, use the arrow keys to move the drive up so that it appears first in the Boot list. Press Enter. The boot order sequence is now changed to boot from the CD, DVD, or USB flash drive.
    4. Press F10 to save your changes and to exit the BIOS Setup Utility. Select聽Yes聽in the confirmation window. The PC will restart.
  3. Select a language, a time and a currency, a keyboard or input method, and then click聽Next.
  4. Click聽Repair your computer.
  5. In the聽System Recovery Options聽dialog box, select the drive of your Windows installation, and then click聽Next.
  6. At the聽System Recovery Options聽dialog box, click聽Repair your computer.
  7. Click the operating system that you want to repair, and then click聽Next.
  8. In the聽System Recovery Options聽dialog box, click聽Startup Repair.

Alternatively, if there isn't any sensitive data on it, format the drive and just do a clean install of 10. Just remember you lose all data doing that.

Hey there smolkomartin1,
I would suggest getting the drive to another computer and see if you can access its partitions from Disk Management there and remove the system reserved partition from your old OS. This should help resolve the issue. Also, if you get it recognized make sure you back everything up before proceeding with the troubleshooting.聽
I'd check the drive's S.M.A.R.T. status and make sure it is still healthy and the problem is with the software rather than the hardware. 聽A diagnostic tool from the manufacturer should be enough to rule the drive healthy or not. :)
Post back with some results :)
