m.2 ssd 256GB vs 512 GB

katiekitsune
Go to solution Solved by katiekitsune,

ok so im going with the save money route and getting the 256GB (or the 500GB EVO if its on sale)

im looking to upgrade to an M.2 SSD (samsung 950 pro) and im not sure what capacity i should get. im using a 2TB SSHD for general storage and larger games. i probably wont use all of the space on the 512GB but its slightly better on paper. which one would be the best option?

or you could get a 850 evo 1tb for the price.

more is always better, if the price is not a matter

Or, you know, a midway. I'll happily sacrifice 500GB for faster read/write speeds.

id like to not have to reinstall up to 1tb of data if i want to do a clean windows install. and cable managing drives behind the fractal design define S is a nightmare (at least on the ssd trays).

i highly doubt that u would ever notice a sata 3 bottleneck(except synthetic benchmarks/ real time workloads (editing etc) even then the difference wont be that noticable)

there is also an m2 evo 500gb/1tb afaik, but i dont know the prices.

if you can go fot the 512gb 950 pro, just do it

It's enthusiast-grade, really. Though enthusiasts will notice a difference.
