Delidding tool

Hello All,

 

Is there anyone near by me who could lend me a delid tool for 5 mins so I can take the IHS off my i5? I would just stick it in a vice but I don't have a decent one to use.

 

DISCLAIMER: I am not asking for a free part or service, I just want to borrow a tool for 5 minutes. I'm near Manchester FYI seeing as all the kids are in here playing silly buggers.

Didn't know there was a tool, you could use a razor if you are careful.

Razor method normally leads to a cut trace, the vice method is a lot easier to do with a lot less risk.

Lots of folks buy the small bench vices and then return them. I bought one and just kept it since it was around $15. If you can't find anyone. You're on oc.net too right? Seems more prevalent there

That's one of the choices but you can get 3D printed ones that you can use in the vice for piece of mind. And the razor method is an accident waiting to happen.

Thin razor works pretty easy, just come in from the corners first then walk it back an forth to cut along the sides a little bit then move along to the next corner. Easy peasy.

I will have a delid die mate tool as soon as they arrive in the UK. I will be charging £10 for a delid and reseal with thermal grizzly kryonaut once I have it. With haswell you are best off using a vice if you want to do it yourself.

I tried to give away a pump and res combo unit on there for free to a fellow user needing a bit of a break but the mods deleted that post too before he saw the post and he had to buy one instead. OCN is great for information from people who actually know what they're talking about but more and more people are leaving because the site is just there to make money, nothing else.

I see them kinda like Wal-mart.  They've got everything there, but it'll take you an hour to find it and sometimes you can't get help no matter how hard you try.  I dunno if it is just the number of members or what.
