Hello guys!
Some of you may recall the Defcon One M-ATX case I had already posted about.
After many many hours at the drawing board implementing all the feedback, after 4 prototypes, and countless tweaks, here is the final prototype! what do you think? :)
(it will be powder coated next week)-

Looks nice and interesting.

How does the design work? I see a dual chamber design, but windows on both sides. Where do the cables go?

There is room fro cables between the two sections - on one side motherboard, on the other the GPUs and cables in between - there fans front and top :)

Looks nice. We're also far too close to Defcon 1 in my opinion. And now with putins monster super duper Armageddon doomsday plane, we're just getting closer...

Thank man :) And yeah, things are getting heated, but I don't think we'll achieve Defcon 1 condition just yet...

Oh now I remember your last post about the case.

How many storage drives does the case support and where are they located?

(I hope its okay if I ask a few questions here. I'm always interested in new case designs :P)

Sure thing! ask away :)

It has room for 2x2.5" drives and 2x3.5" drives - the 2.5" ones are on the motherboard side, right on the PSU cover; the 3.5" ones are below that, hidden from sight and in front of the PSU :)

nice

Thanks man :)

Not yet... Are you considering wrapping the panels in camo wrap or something?

It will be powder coated black - but many people seem to like the "metal look" so we might also have a "transparent paint one" to keep the metal look :)

That's really well thought out.

So you can see your awesome shiny SSDs but don't have to look at ugly 3.5'' harddrives and cable routing will be very easy.

So how about watercooling? It's probably not easy to get a full custom loop squeezed into the case if the GPUs are located on the back.

And what is with tall air coolers? It seems the motherboard chamber isn't as wide as in most cases. But then again you probably don't plan to mass produce this case, right? :P

Actually, we plan to mass produce :D

it can fit most LP air coolers, and has room for a 240mm rad on top for the CPU - as far as custom loops go, this version isn't too suited for that, even if we'll see how well we can fit a second 240mm rad in the front, slim fans behind it and then have a custom loop made to see the results :)

Oh that's great. Make sure you send Bill Owen or Logan from OC3D a sample. They know how to properly review and handle a case.

Anyways, so I guess this case won't be cheap as it seems to be aimed at enthusiasts. The average person that will buy such a case will probably run a AIO anyways, am I right?

A few more questions...  ;)

Will the front I/O be located on the top and is the round hole in the front of the case for the power button?

Will it be easy to take the case apart for some modding or is everything riveted in?

Which materials do you use to produce it? Is it completly made out of aluminium?

And how long will it probably take until we can see the first samples arriving in stores?

Yup, enthusiast aimed :) - we'll have it unpainted for 140 euros and painted for 220 (including USBs, power button and SLI cable).

The I/O of the motherboard is in the back, and in the front there are 2x3.0 USBs and the power button (no one asked for the audio jacks so we didn't implement that.)

There are only 2 parts that are riveted together, that's the chassis - everything else can be taken apart with a simple Allen key (provided).

Completely made of aluminum, including the "feet" - the panel are plexiglass.

We;ll likely have the samples ready to send out to those who already contacted us - then we'll have to make the agreements so I guess that will take a while - they will be avaliabe from us around September tho :)

That sounds great.

For a case that is completly made out of aluminium and has a really unique design that's a fair price.

To be able to take the case apart is great for all case modders.

Thanks for taking your time to answer all the questions. I hope everything will work out for you and the case.

One small quesions tho: Are fans included?

Yup, when designing this (as well as the rest of the stuff we have in the works) we always kept in mind that it could be disassembled as much as possible for modding :)

Fans not included :P
