Best GPU for LAN Party PC

Go to solution Solved by ashypanda,

it might be worth looking at open box or B-stock as they are still new just with a extra discount.

I'm planning to make a few lan party machines for my home which can run most games at medium-high settings. I currently am running a Sapphire R9 270X and I can near max out any game at 30-60fps and I would like to get a card similar to it but cheaper and hopefully Nvidia. I was thinking about the 750 Ti as it is £100 over the 270X being £160 and its similar in performance.

So my question is, what card should I get? The machines are going to be pretty low end but good enough to play games like gta, smite etc.

I would say get a GTX 950 on sale.

Any 950 you can get for under $150 US is a good deal. https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/parts/video-card/#c=329&sort=a8&page=1

($150 is what the 750Ti was originally priced at 1-2 years ago)

I also think it's a bad idea to get a card that is already 2 years old.

One deal to consider if you are into Heroes of the Storm is this one on Newegg for $140 after rebate with free Heroes of the Storm stuff and a free plushie for cuddling with in the Winter: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121981&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker,%20LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

Otherwise I would go for this deal of it for slightly less cost:

edit: nvm just realized you are not in the US whoops. Silly me reading too fast. Changed pcpartpicker link above to compensate

if you're after a GPU just for those games, you can get a new 2gb 380 for £120, which for mobas and games like CS:GO it's near perfect.

R9 380X

it will play every game known to mankind that has been released, and will be released for quite a while

That might be good but its near double the budget. Im currently thinking about a 960 at £140 or your suggestion the R9 380X for £190

put of a 950 and 960 i'd go for a 960, as a R9 270x is a bit faster than a 950.

Alright thanks. Probably will go for it. Its a bit over my budget but I think it'll be fine.

it might be worth looking at open box or B-stock as they are still new just with a extra discount.

If you're thinking 960 get an R9 380 instead, should be cheaper (EDIT: dammit it isn't) but has much better performance (10-15% more). https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-video-card-r9380p2df5
