For Total War Rome 2 and Attila, is the GPU or CPU more important for huge battles at Max settings?

Guide to GTX 900 Series: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/457526-nvidia-900-series-basic-performance-guide/

Performance expert, building noob.

There is no such thing as excess in hardware.

It likely has a lot of physics calculations and ai calculation (due to all the troops), so likely cpu, but I'm not 100% sure

Well to make it really simple for you:

CPU = All the small things, many stuff moving at the same time, helmets flying around, physics on the capes they are wearing, the arrows flying through the sky.

GPU: The looks of the game, the quality of the textures and all other things related to how the game looks.

The game has a lot of both, so if you have a bad CPU or GPU doesn't matter because the game will probably not run smoothly if either one is bad.

(Note: Just because a game looks really good doesn't mean it's more GPU demanding than CPU, in-case someone tries to correct me on this.)
