Eh, I didn't even include my vid until it was almost page 2 :)

Yes - my 4720HQ was at 20% usage

Hmm, wonder why my work PC Firefox can't see the 4k setting.  I'll try again soon, laptop is going through the big Win 10 November update that I put off till today. V42.0 yea?

My laptop definitely cannot.  It lags like all balls, and pegs my CPU at 100%.  My desktop I've yet to try but I don't have high hopes for that.  My i5-3570K @ 4.4GHz renders videos about as fast as my laptop's i7-4720HQ (3.3GHz with 4 cores and HT).  I upscaled my 1080p gameplay footage as a test if the 4k video would make the 1080p video any better looking but man, that 4k just kills my PC :P

my laptop can play 4k but it buffer. Download and play it with no problem. my laptop have nvidia geforce 720m and intel core i5-3337U, 1.8GHZ, 12GB of ram, 750GB HDD(5400RPM), windwos 10( windows 8 preinstalled), internet: MAXIS Fibre internet 10MBPS, using isp provided modem and router

Yeah buffering is a problem of course.  But I do let it load a bit, and even with 20 seconds of buffer play time, the thing totally murders my laptop.  Even playing the raw file on my desktop kicks it to 100% but smooth playback.

Doesn't FF also have hardware acceleration on by default?  Cos there was a lot of hoo haa when it was introduced and it slowed down slower PC's back like 2-3 years ago.

And it's 100 up and 100 down at my office :P  I let it buffer past the point where it stutters, and just doesn't seem to like it lol.  Well I'll test it, 92% Windows upgrade completion!

I wonder why you get so low CPU usage, when almost everyone else here gets their CPU at 100% once the vid starts.  Gotta find a better way to view 4k content! :D

Windows 8.1?

To answer you guys I have my rig in my profile, but it's a 3770k at stock everything on an Asus Maximus V Formula, Win 10 Pro and Chrome Version Version 47.0.2526.80 m.

GPU is Asus 780ti DC2OC and running a netgear 7500v2 and BCM94352HMB AC card.

IDK if any optimizations are going on but the my GPU was around 2 percent. Beats me.

My junker can play it fine, but my internet struggles.

Jumping from Win7 to Win10 I've seen improvements in how youtube plays video at fullscreen @ 4K

Hey Samfisher, I noticed something for you. When I had around 50 percent CPU usage I was running the stock GPU driver that comes with windows dated around 8/12 *or 8/21 * and one chrome tab fullscreen youtube. I was going to record it with shadowplay in the nvidia driver suite  and noticed that my CPU shot up to 99 with low uality settings in shadowplay percent and also I had 4 or 5 chrome processes running vs 1. Maybe it's the driver junk, IDK, but rolling back to MS Driver for sure !
