Firewall log. Should I be Afraid?

Should I be afraid? My connection drops. I have been saying this on my firewall log daily.

If you do any kind of P2P it's probably normal. Most likely crawlers or torrent trackers trying to see what is available.

No, it's common for packets to drop. Several hosts don't send back they packets you send out, the router marks them as dropped.

If you are connected to the internet you should be prepared for attackers....

 

I created the google map below using data we collected (shown on the map is about 3-4 months worth) from a school honeypot project.

Each marker represents only unique IPs ( not how many times each IP tried to connect to the honeypot)

There are about 4300 markers on the map and there were over 200k connection attempts total.
