So, for various reasons our router has to be downstairs. I however am upstairs and my PC doesn't have a WiFi card. I also have a TMC-AC1900 on hand. Is there anyway to hook up my computer via Ethernet with our main router downstairs? Or is a super long Ethernet cable my only option?

If the wiring in your home isn't very old, powerline is a viable option where it uses the electrical wires in your home as a data line for ethernet.

get a long ass ethernet cable?

i think you can set up your tmc-ac1900 to be a secondary router for upstairs that is connected downstairs O.o Don't count me on it though, I may be wrong.

I know it's possible, but everytime I tried it with our old on I got DHCP errors. I'm also not sure if a 100FT Ethernet cable would even reach to be honest.

Powerline Adapters or a Cable

The wiring in my house was last updated in the 60's, so I doubt that's a viable option.

Your next best thing is to have ethernet cables run if you want a reliable high speed connection or a wireless bridge to the upstairs from the main router, powerline doesn't always work the best with older aluminum or knob and tube based wiring.
