I am looking for a soundcard and I want some recommendations. I don't use surround sound and i do game. I do listen to music but I do not record. I want it to look cool in my system so it must have a black PCB and use a PCI-e connector.

I was thinking either ASUS Xonar Phoebus or something around that.

ASUS Xonar<<<<what ever you choice make sure your choice this company and series and well sound card its all about what you like so thats hard to answer that

why?  why say make sure its this brand and then tell the op it's hard to answer?

To the OP:

Forget brand names for now, first you need to find out if there are any issues with your current setup? hiss, interference? static or clicks? are you happy with your headphones?

Once you know that then read the FAQ as it has all the answers.

The audio just doesn't sound clear like there is a slight gargling or hissing. its not very noticeable but when i listen to my ipod the music sounds slightly better somehow.

What headphones are you using, and what motherboard is your PC built on?

And also if an external DAC/amp would be a possibility.
