Sketchy_Banana

With what a p90? lol its a good gun!

Well I stopped using the P90 on most buy rounds, so that probably played a role in my ranking up xD

Though, NickBunyun got to LEM with nothing but P90 and CZ so..

Yes, im looking into 144hz monitors.

Just get one that fits your budget.... The difference isn't like it used to be with BTB vs GTG panels. Anything under 5ms is pretty damn difficult to discern unless you are an government experiment with optical eyesight.

I tend to recommend the VG248QE or XL2411Z for 1080p + 144Hz. Then again, since we have 1440p 144Hz+ IPS panels out now, I'd say go that direction.

Except in professional csgo, where the difference between 6ms and 1ms is noticeable, but only for the very... well attuned.

For csgo, anything less than 6ms is perfectly fine, most "professional" csgo players are on anything between 6ms and 1ms, with most actually not on the latter.

Ghosting is a bigger killer on csgo anyway, forget response times.

Ghosting is what response time measures in the first place, not latency :P

My use of ghosting must be off then. I was referring to dark trails following bright objects as they move across a scene; if that's the case, then I'll just write that off as me being on 2 hours of sleep.

Some 6ms monitors I've run, I've seen very little of that; while other 6ms displays I've seen more than I care to go into detail about.

Yes, blurry trails behind fast-moving objects. You're absolutely right that displays with the "same" response time have totally different levels of ghosting, which is why response time is a completely useless number that no one should pay attention to at all. It's supposed to measure response time but it literally represents nothing in reality.

Around $650, i was looking into the Asus MG279q.

Any chance you can increase your budget a bit? I guess you can that's why you were looking into MG279Q? Why not go for ROG Swift 165hz panel for similar pricing if you wait about a month or so to rule out any QC issues?

... granted that the monitor is plagued with QC issues for couple years now, even the new one isn't all so good either but if you find a working unit you're golden. If you're in a country such as USA where you can RMA easily then I'd say it's probably worth the hassle and try your luck but at the end it's up to you otherwise there are alternatives to similar specs with Acer so you can always look there as well?

Good decision on leaning towards 1440p and higher refresh rate than 60hz so you can be future proof and enjoy gaming more thoroughly.

What are the specs on your TN panel?

It's really freaking old. All I remember is that it's 2ms response time. It's 1440x900, wide-screen.

I used to be quite active here.

OP, I can endorse this 144Hz 1MS panel.
It's lower than you're budget, but still a really great monitor for CSGO.

EDIT: Helps to include a link to what i'm talking about.

$650 is all I got for a monitor. I would get a PG is if had the money, but i need to save some for future upgrades.

So i wanted to know if an ips monitor with a 144hz refresh rate and a 4ms response time would be good for hardcore CSGO. Would it? Its the Asus MG279q

I played cs:go all weekend on my PG279Q before I sent it back and had no problem playing. I'm rank DMG if that means anything...

Don't worry about the tn panel.

Unless you are running the screen angled, the colour is almost perfect for about 150 degrees.

BenQ2411Z is the one i have

My second one I got had a dead pixel and even though a lot better than my first one I got, it still had BLB. Also it seems like all PG279Q's have this yellow / brown tint towards the top of the screen on white backgrounds and for an ips panel, that shouldn't be happening.

27" 1440p is a really good size. You feel like the monitor is working for you instead of you leaning forward and trying to strain your eyes to get those long range headshots in cs:go. The image comes to you instead of you looking for it if you understand what I mean.

Yes, especially since it is IPS, 4ms is really good response time.

Just letting you know that even though the Asus has a very limited freesync range of 35-90 The Acer XF270HU, however, goes from 23-144. Which makes the Asus obsolete IMHO.
