Looking to upgrade

Hey guys, so i currently have an i5 2320 and I feel its holding me back in some more CPU intensive games. Do you guys have any suggestions for upgrades? Along with the recommended mobo

 

Current rig

2 x EVGA GTX 970 FTW

i5 2320

16GB of corsair XM3

Smasung evo 840 pro 256 GB

i5 4690k is lga 1150, OP has an i5 2320 which is lga 1155, so an 4690k wont work.

 

What lga 1155 mobo do you have?

The fastest lga 1155 cpu is the i7 3770k.

maybe even go with the skylake i5/i7 and some cheap sli capable mobo.
Do you want to keep your old mobo in the system? then you have to go with something like @oskarha said

I think I worded my question pretty badly. I'm looking to go i7 so idm getting a brand new mobo with CPU.

so whats the best value/performance i can get on a CPU/mobo?

If you want to go for skylake you have to get new ddr4 ram, which is expencive.

If your getting a new mobo, get something like a 4790k with a cheap sli capable z97 mobo.

But, the i7 3770k is still a great cpu, and your motherboard cant be rubbish as its sli capable.

 

Price to preformance (best to worst):

1) i7 3770k upgrade (keep current mobo)

2) i7 4790k  + mobo

2) i7 6700k  + mobo + ram (dont go for this one)

i7 6700k but f money isn't the issue why not go x99 with a i7 5820k? Prices are similar
