I want to stream games from my pc (wifi) to my shield console (to be ethernet) I have little knowledge of networking but for some reason on speedtest I get close to double the down speed I got when I used ethernet. That is when I'm using the 5Ghz signal. So if I want to stream to my shield can I keep my pc wireless and plug in my shield? Also this speed difference isn't the case with all pc's if that matters. I think I just got lucky when I bought my pci e wifi adapter lol.

I agree. Wired is always the better solution. However if you can't run wires for whatever reason Get powerline adapters and call it a day:

Power-line adapters are more unreliable than 5GHz signals, it does depend on the environment however. I just cannot ever recommend a power-line adapter without first having evidence that an adequate wireless signal is not available.

Really? Cause in my experience I have had much better results with powerline adapters over wifi. In fact I am using one to type this post right now! I originally bought an very high-end asus wireless ac PCIe card for my computer (we have a good router too) and the connection was always dropping out every FRIGGIN' day (I am sitting in the room next to our router). One day I decided to purchase a powerline adapter kit and all my problems went away. My speeds increased and latency decreased. This is why I like them.

I'm glad the adapter is working well for you but you must understand the unreliability of injecting a data carrying signal into an electrically noisy environment, hence the rest of my original response.

Wired is ALWAYS better. The 5Ghz spectrum will be better for your wireless devices if you can't go wired.

If you can you should be using wired

Ethernet (not power-line). If you can't go wired, go with 5Ghz.

Yeah I've heard that quite a bit but what confuses me is the tests ive done show that 5 Ghz gives me better download speeds in my pc so why would that be?

I appreciate your feedback but I'm not sure I got my question across correctly. I'm trying to stream to my shield that is using Ethernet from my pc that is using 5Ghz. Do both devices need to use the same style connection or as long as its the same network it doesn't matter?

They just need to be on the same network. How you connect everything together may affect performance in various ways however as long as the devices are on the same network you shouldn't have any major issues.
