When I turn off my pc, it will download around 189 updates, and then it will shut off. When I turn it back on again it will say configuring updates, I leave it for 5 minutes, and I come back and it says the update configuration failed. What do I do!

snip

Sometimes it will happen if you try to update all of them at once.  In this case, select a few, do the update and let it restart.  Then do the next few, and so on.

Usually Windows will show a list of which particular item(s) failed, so leave them for last.

@ALwin nailed it for me.  tried about 20 or so and its working fine now.  I guess trying the full batch after a fresh install is asking too much
