PS3 Low FPS on games

LordWafflez

So i have a Samsung S24D391 monitor that i play PS3 through HDMI. Games like DBZ Raging Blast 2 run perfectly like this, but i tried out Just Cause 2 and Borderlands, and they run at like 15 FPS. What could be causing this? I tried changing the resolution in the PS3 settings from 1080p to 720p, still didn't work. Is there anything i could do?

It's either thermal issues, or simply the PS3 being the PS3

PS3 dead? I mean it's an old console. I suppose.

That resolution change doesnt change how the game is rendered at, thats pretty much just changing your OS resolution

Changing the resolutions will only change the res of the ui. The games are always rendered at the highest res that the ps3 can manage. If its lagging, it most likely just a bad port from the xbox, or something else that can really be fixed.

It's just really weird because both borderlands AND just cause 2 worked just fine for me about a year ago, could it just be age?

I really dont know what could cause the system to work normally, but with less performance. Is it in a badly ventilated cupboard or something?

It'll be thermal issues, if it's out of those two.

PS3s don't just drop frames like mad for no reason.

I opened up the PS3 and vacuumed the fan. Still lags. Any suggestions?

That is absolutely not normal.

I don't know what else to say, frankly. This shouldn't really be happening at all.

I just tried it on my scart TV because that's how i used to play games on the PS3, still didn't work. Welp, never buying a console again xD I'll just have to rebuy some games for my PC i guess, which sucks. I'm just so god damn confused on how this happened, i checked the disc too and it had only 1 tiiiiny scratch, i just don't get it.
