My imac I got from uncle won't let me connect to the internet I'm on the internet but it wont let me look at sites plz help this is wat it comes up with when I try to search things

Can you be more specific?  can you ping other devices on the LAN or a reliable server like google.com?  Are just specific sites not loading?

Reset the router. (unplug the power and hold the reset button for 30 seconds)

Plug the computers in via eithernet

Then get a 25M long ethernet cable. Or pick a 300m reel of ethernet cable up from a foreclosing investment bank's office. Then build your own cable. and string it to you and your uncle's computer.

Have you tried restarting the router?  Is the computer connected successfully to the router and just internet access is an issue or is it not connecting to the router?  Can you ping other devices on the LAN or a reliable host like google.com?

Restart your iMac and your router, if it doesn't work move your iMac near the router to see if everything works, you're 25m away, depends on the walls you have they might be blocking the signal (in my appartement 15m and i don't have the wifi anymore), then you'll have multiple solution to extend your connection : the most simple AND efficient will be to buy a 25m ethernet cable.

I'd love to see that picture because that message sounds like the router is setup in a way where anyone can "connect" but you have to sign in to be able to access anything, as opposed to the other method where the password is asked before you can even connect.

Try diagnosing the connection via the built-in diagnoser. Sometimes the mac connection needs a good poke in the rear in order to work. The diagnoser should be in a sub menu when you click the wifi signal icon at the top right of the screen.

wait, what?  The mac doesn't have wifi, so you plugged a wifi extender in to it? I don't understand how that could possibly work, or even happen.
