Finally, someone asking the right questions without brainless recommendations first. Keep it up, there's still hope for people apparently ^^

Cuz i don't want amd and 970 is better

First of all, it's not.

I have a r9 380

What resolution do you play at? What games do you play the most? Do you feel like a 380 is not enough? It should be. At least for 1080p.

+40% more or less...might be worth it to you might not be...i would try to shoot for a 980 or if too expensive then wait mate!

If you can sell the 380 at a decent price and grab a deal on a 970 then why not!...i've upgraded cards for less than that in the past!

Has an R9 380 and already looking at the 970? Wait until pascal rolls around

EDIT: When pascal comes, sell your r9 380 and get 2 of the best pascal gpus, so you won't have to worry for years to come.

Or should I just get another 380

Do not crossfireX, it will not be a significant boost in FPS, you'd be better off buying another card. All I'm going to say like others have said......you are looking at two pretty similar cards.

Thanks!

I have an r9 380 2gb and personally after much debate I don't even feel the need to upgrade to an r9 390/gtx 970. I may just grab a r9 380x 4gb. Don't just blindly follow nvidia. If you want a gtx 970 then buy one. We don't know when Pascal is going to be released and at that point the new CoD could be out.

Edit: @Chris_R. I was looking at crossfire for r9 380, and actually out performs the gtx 970 at 1080p. Granted single card > sli/cf. Just some food for thought.

no, that's just a big no...crossfire and SLI are having a VERY bad time right now many of the latest games does not even support it at all and i think it's a trend that will continue not enough people using these so developpers do not bother including it in newer game engines, IMHO SLI and CFX are dead...dying...big time!

similar cards!? not at all...look at the performance numbers i've posted links in my first post and see for yourself the 970 is MASSIVELY more powerful!

Is it worth the upgrade, as i said...that will depend.

In my opinion you should be looking at a larger upgrade gap rather than just one upgrade bit.

An AMD cpu has no place in a solely gaming build, end of.

I3 4150, Intel HD graphics, corsair CX750M, 4gb ram, Asus H81M-E, corsair 230T, Intel stock cooler WD Green 2TB Gigabyte 550TI

Q3 2016 is what was originaly discussed, some are now talking about Q2...nothing is sure but i would say: consider it's Q3 2016 that way if it come earlier than that it will be a good surprise.

like i said in my post...40% is worth it to some, not worth it for some others...it depends how much you can get back for the old card and how much the new one will cost you...and how bad you want the extra perf.

I once did that upgrade for 140$...and that was 100% worth it to me...

http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/AMD-HD-7950-vs-Nvidia-GTX-780/2160vs2164

Also did this one which by numbers is more ''worth it'' but in reality with the games i played at the time and stuff, this felt a lesser upgrade as compared to the 780:
