This is a theoretical situation. What if my friend just built his new PC and installed windows 8.1 via USB drive. Could I just plug that USB into my newly built system and get windows for free. Would that work? Sorry if this is stupid I was just curious.

Yes you could but it would only last for a month or so then the trial would run out and you will need to buy a key for it.

Can't you just keep on dismising the thing telling you to activate Windows?

I believe that is what @iamdarkyoshi is doing.

An AMD cpu has no place in a solely gaming build, end of.

I3 4150, Intel HD graphics, corsair CX750M, 4gb ram, Asus H81M-E, corsair 230T, Intel stock cooler WD Green 2TB Gigabyte 550TI

Why you shouldn't trust Gpu or Cpu boss Click on this I dare you!

Letting the trial period run out basically just removes your wallpaper and puts some ugly text in your lower corner.

And you can there are ways you can keep the wallpaper as well:

The wallpaper on my PC stays on its own, and the PC never has a popup, just the message.
