I've been wanting to make a portable desktop using a pelican suitcase for a long time now. I would take a cheap computer case, cut it down so I have things like a PSU mount, motherboard mounting holes and other essentials then take the bezel off a monitor and put it in the lid. It would be difficult but awesome and as a bonus: waterproof when closed.

I've built 3 PC's, but none for myself... In fact, I'm using an iMac that my dad bought for me as my desktop. Awkward...

Please don't say "SSD drive." By doing so, you are literally saying "Solid State Drive Drive" and causing my brain cells to commit suicide. The same applies to HDD (Hard Disk Drive) and PCIe (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express).

Suggestions on how to design a case for a portable workstation?

Do you already have the work station? What hardware were you planning on and what's your budget?

You could always buy one of the Eurocom laptops

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

Well, I have a 630 USD budget.

I don't think workstation is going to work well at 630 dollars, the best CPU you'd get at that price is going to be an 8320/e, but those only come with micro ATX boards at best.

What is your workload?
