I have overclocked my cpu before with Windows 7 and Windows 10 Tech Preview, but as soon as I upgraded I couldn't overclock anymore. I have a Phenom II X6 1045T running on an ASUS M5A78L‑M LX PLUS and I use to run it at 3.4GHz. I will get everything set up in the BIOS the same way I did before, not even touching the voltage that much because this isn't a very steep overclock(it runs fine either way) and Windows shows it running at 2.65-2.70GHz still. I checked CPUz and got the same results. Stress tests don't push it up at all, and I am completely confused here. If someone has any input that could help me out at all, I would very much appreciate it.

try to reset the BIOS to optimized defaults and try OCing again

overclocking has absolutely nothing to do with the OS so it should work fine even with w10

Many people have had issues with Windows 10 and overclocking, but there have been no solutions. The OS can block some feautures like overclocking. I have already tried resetting my BIOS in the past, multiple times actually. No matter what it stays at 2.7GHz. I guess I may have to bump my OS back down to Windows 7, which I am not worried about in the least, except for the chance of being forced to upgrade to Windows 10(that can happen and has happened.) I have keys to Windows 7 Professional 64 bit that I can use, but I would have enjoyed Windows 10 a little bit. Thanks for the input, though.

Try that fix, but replace every instance of "mcupdate_GenuineIntel.dll" with, "mcupdate_AuthenticAMD.dll"

If you get it to work successfully please report back, I'm sure you're not the only one.
