Brush for dusting off things

Hey guys.

My grandad gave me a pc cleaning kit, included with it was a brush, ill leave a pic of it.

Its bristles are made of plastic and so is the shaft but there are a metal ring around the bottom.

Can i use it for dusting off heatsinks and mobo? Thanks

Yup just make sure you are grounded.

Although i use a paint brush to clean MOBO heatshinks and other parts of PCs you need to be careful because if it is any metal on it and it even goes near a capacitor you could end up in the hospital or it could be fatal. I use one that has a wood handle.

Well not really on the motherboard so much and I doubt he's opening his PSU, BUT it is worth flipping the switch on the psu off and/or unplugging it from the wall.

I'll use air instead.

 

Got electrocuted by my cpu heatsink by using it. Dunno if the brush has anything to do with it, but i'll just stop touching my componets in general

While this is worthwhile there is always some charge in the CPSs even if the PSU is not plugged in and he can also "zap" components with some of the metal brushes.

 

Just wanted him to be aware.

It should be okay because i have been using wood paint brushes for years but just be careful because of the metal.....
