Console with a Display Port monitor?

RohanLeRoux

Hi all,

I recently purchased a PS4 to play the various titles that are experiencing crippling PC ports (Arkham Knight, cough cough). I'd like to hook it up to either my Acer XB240H or my ROG Swift (But am leaning towards the Acer as it runs natively at 1080P). Would just like to know what would be the best method of hooking it up- I've heard that HDMI to Display port connectors don't work some times?

Regards

HDMI is encrypted using HDCP. All HDMI connections are required to use this. So are digital DVI connections. but DisplayPort (input, mind you!) doesn't have to include it. So you just need to make sure that either the adapter/cable does the decryption (which kind of defeats the point of having decryption so this is highly unlikely) or that the DP input on the display itself supports HDCP.

So if I've got an HDCP complaint panel, something like this (http://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/cosmol-male-displayport-to-female-hdmi-adaptor-codphdad) should work fine?

A passive adapter like that would work the other way around, from DP to HDMI but I really think your safest bet would be an active adapter or converter such as this. On the other hand, that costs you an arm and half a leg so if you can like borrow a passive adapter or straight cable you should definitely test it to see if it works.

A passive adapter won't work.  People have tried them already with Gsync monitors to PS4 and they get a no signal error.

Only the active adapter will work.
