960 4gb vs 380 2gb

JohnnyIsHere

Heyy so this is the build i am looking at building.

http://pricespy.co.nz/list.php?l=187212&view=l

But i want a i5 without spending more..

So i can can get the i5-6400 in but get a 960 4gb.

So do u reckon the 960 4gb is better than the r9 380 2gb? or even better wuld there be not much of a diffrence if i got the 960 2gb...

Anyone know a list saying what games even need more than 2gb?

Thanks :)

2GB of vRAM isn't enough at 1080p, so the GTX 960 4GB.

I only have 900p atm but will get 1080p later...Does the vram depend on my monitor or does it depend on the game?

does the 380 4GB cost more than the 960 4GB for you? if they are the same prices for you then you should go with the 380 4GB, which beats the 960 in most cases. if not, get the 960 4GB. 2 GB is no longer enough for 1080p gaming

depends on how pretty you want to make your games. you can turn more textures up on a 4 GB card than a 2 GB card because it has 2 extra gigs to store textures and information.

Just get the 960 with 4gb vram and i5. The i3 paired with r9 380 might cause some problems. Plus the 4gb vram might come in handy with newer games or when turning up resolution or texture quality.

This price spy website looks like a cheap knock off of pc parts picker.

oh we figured out why retailers went missing from pcpp. If they don't have referrals that pcpp can make money off of the get rid of them. That is why no more mem ex.

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

The R8 380 is a little more powerful than the GTX 960. So when less than 2GB of video memory are needed, the Radeon will be faster. When the games need more, the Geforce card will have the advantage thanks to its 4GB of VRAM.

I would go for the 4GB card, as the other one is already outdated, as even only at 1080p, many modern games need 3GB of VRAM at ultra (even without anti-aliasing).
