the type of nand flash they use and the controller isn't as good as Intel's or Samsungs.

Doesn't sound like anything too serious though I don't know what either of those things are :x

at least it doesn't sound like a reliability issue

in laymans it means a smaller write limit and degraded performance over time.

o wel - hopefully it will last me long

do SSDs have about the same lifespan/writes as HDDs?

This depends what they are used for, just like HDD's.  I have a similar SSD (PNY Optima) In my old gaming build that survived 3 windows 7 installs and the windows 10 upgrade, plus many game installs and uninstalls, still chugging along. Youll always hear horror stories, but it's served me well for almost 2 or 3 years now.

Do you even fanboy bro?

It's slow, compared to other SSDs.

Still miles ahead of an HDD though.

HDD's lives are longer. SSD's have a limited number of writes that can be done to them, after that performance takes a serious hit and the flash memory degrades.

However, you usually have to write massive amounts of data to a drive before this happens, so it's not even something I'd worry about. You'll easily see 10 years plus of regular use out of an SSD, and you'll (hopefully) have long upgraded before you reach that point. This is, of course, getting significantly better as technology improves.

Go ahead and do a little research on TLC and MLC NAND. It'll give you a good idea of what to expect when your looking for SSDs later on!
