The plan is to use it for gaming, as media center and playing around with virtualization.

Pretty good. I don't really know much about VR but i guess it'll be fine. You could change GTX 970 to R9 390

Get an aftermarket cooler to overclock that CPU and a R9-390 to beat out that 970.

 

EDIT: For VR, the 970 will do better unless AMD pulls some new VR technologies out of their ass.

Awesome build, I have just brought pretty similar parts for my mini-itx system just changed the case and motherboard ect...

Maybe I wrote something wrong, but I meant virtualization as virtual machines running on a PC.
