I've been gaming forever. Been playing one specific pcagame for years. But always on a laptop. Not thr best of one either lol

World of warcraft is my game. I'm lookin for help because from what I know. Its more of a cpu intense game? An since I've always played on off/lowest settings possible. Im right now looking to just build a pc that will let me play wow. And be above 20fps lol with upgrade abilities, would be nice but not a focus. This is with os, & a drive to put the game ON. I have the other peripherals.

Budget is as low as possible lol let's just say that. What really got me going was the reallly good deals this weekend for microcenter. I live in michigan, not far from the microcenter :)

I7 249.99 with a $100 that im selling my vaping stuff for, is end up paying 149 for a i7 4790. Made me really think hm nows the timento build a system. Instead of maybe one, two pieces at a time.

Maybe add in a second hand GPU. That should be good enough for World of Warcraft.

So what's your budget?

You don't need an i7 for WoW, I doubt it takes advantage of more than 4 threads, although I seem to run wow just fine on my 750K + 7850 build at 1920x1200(1440p display)

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

The i7 definitely helps the more stuff that goes on, especially in cities and bosses with lots of adds.  The difference isn't much, nor is it game breaking difference but it is quite noticeable.

However, a mid-range i5 and a mid-range GPU is really all you need to play WoW at decent settings smoothly.  A total budget would help us fill out your build :D

please DO NOT use that CPU

build the rig to LAST... that CPU is slow. it may seem fine, but you gonna lag REALLY BADLY in raids and places with shitloads of players..

from what i can gather, WOW can use 3-4 cores/threads now, and getting a i3 would GREATLY help you.

remember, a computer =/= a single game. there is other things on the PC that NEEDS to have some CPU time every now and then. Due to this, an i3 is your IDEAL solution. It will allow for much much better gaming experience then ANY pentium ever will, ever!. But it wont cost too much

i suggest going with the following. While it will cost a lot, it should last you for 3-5 years, if WOW is still around by then...

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i3-6100 3.7GHz Dual-Core Processor  ($108.99 @ SuperBiiz)

Motherboard: ASRock Z170M Pro4S Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($84.15 @ SuperBiiz)

Power Supply: Fractal Design Tesla R2 500W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply  ($39.99 @ Newegg)

So WHY should you spend so much?

because you want this PC to LAST... buying cheap (that CPU and that motherboard for example, in addition to a SSD that will be full instantly) is NOT "economical"... buying more and more parts all the time to cover your needs instead of just buying ONE BIG PILE OF EXPENSIVE BUT BETTER PARTS, is actually MORE EXPENSIVE IN THE LONG RUN!

i know, because, ive spent THOUSANDS of USD on my PC... and reselling my used parts didnt pay back 1/8th of what ive spent in the long run...

Linus has also said this, that buying cheap with the intent to upgrade later is more expensive then buying what you intended to get right away.

so if the game is cpu intensive, why do u recommend so much more on a gpu vs cpu? Nor even a i5 and lesser gpu

Just wanna understand :) ty all for replies

because there is no point getting a 750Ti...

if you want to max everything out, no matter what. the 750Ti or 270X wont be enough anymore. Not after the latest WoW patch...

the 380X should give you good enough framerates, to run WoW at max settings even if they do yet another massive graphics bump. Not to mention if you decide to play other games, the 380X will easily handle most games, if not all, at max settings and still get 60FPS in 1080p

Well don't mind having it at lowest settings. I just wana play again. Thats why I went with a pc that'd cost me $279 xD

I read somewhere i5 is the best, any "more" an is waste? Anyways, local microcenter has a i5 4690 3.5ghz for like 179.
