My Newest Build

WilliamDB

Hi everyone!

I am proud to present my most recent build.

Specs are in my signature. My lighting is a Blue Phobya LED strip. (didn't even tape it, it just kinda sits there out of the way)

Please post any requests like Benchamrks, or different/better Pictures.

Enjoy!

UPDATE!

Hello again,

I have had the power supply in my computer for some time now, but the pictures I took are from the day I installed it.

Enjoy!

I'm not an audiophile, I'm just really picky about my music... and my headphones... and my speakers... and my microphone. Other than that, I'm totally not an audiophile.

Wow, that CPU cooler looks like a jet engine ^^ How loud is it?

Great build, one thing I don't understand though .. why 24Gb of RAM? I would have thought an i7 would be a better fit with that, what are you using the system for?

The CPU cooler is really pretty quiet, plus I game with a Logitech G430 on at all times, so I never hear it.

I had 8gigs to start with 2x4gb, but then I saw a sale on 8 gig sticks, and I'm a sucker for a good sale LOL.

Love the setup how do you find that Zalman fan?  Mostly concerned with how loud it is.  I've been waiting for Noctua NH D14 to go on sale but don't think its ever gonna happen and i can get that zalman at a pretty good deal

First build?

My third overall, my second by myself.

I'm guessing you asked because my cables look atrocious. I'm going to sleeve all of my cables once I replace/upgrade my power supply. It's noisy as hell under load.

I picked up the CNPS12X for $40 on newegg. (like I said, I'm a sucker for a good sale.) The noise isn't bad, but I haven't even started overclocking yet.

Good build but why such a cheap-ass PSU? It may blow up under load or something xD Anything below CX 750 is made by really bad partners. I'd get HX 850.

So... If Jesus had the gold, would he buy himself out instead of waiting 3 days for the respawn?

CPU: Phenom II x6 1045t ][ GPU: GeForce 9600GT 512mb DDR3 ][ Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P ][ RAM: 2x4GB Kingston 1333MHz CL9 DDR3 ][ HDD: Western Digital Green 2TB ][ PSU: Chieftec 500AB A ][ Case: No-name without airflow or dust filters Budget saved for an upgrade so far: 2400PLN (600€) - Initial 2800PLN (700€) Upgraded already: CPU

The PSU is from my old build, I got it on sale. I actually plan on getting a HX 850 next paycheck, unless anyone can recommend something as nice as a HX 850 that goes with my blue color scheme.  :D

does the 24gb of ram work in dual channel ?

wouldnt it have to be 8x2 + 8x2 ? or 4x2 + 4x2 ?

but 8x2 + 4x2 ?

Yes it is dual channel memory, I have 2 8GB sticks (8GBx2) and 2 4GB sicks (4GBx2) hence why I wrote it as (8GBx2+4GBx2).

but in total they are working as dual channel ?

i've always thought that for a dual channel mode to work it needed equal amount sticks of ram...

i guess not then, good to know, we learn every day :)

My board has 4 ram slots. The slots are in 1 3 2 4 order, and the sticks are in 8 4 8 4.

To work in dual channel mode slot 1 and 2 need to have the same size and speed memory.

Slot 3 and 4 can work in dual channel as well as long as they share the same size and speed.

There are worse PSUs I could have used, but I have to agree, the quality of mu PSU doesn't really match the quality of the rest of my build.

yeah you are right about it not matching up totally. But, a good quality PSU and a PSU that has awesome features such as modular, and sleeved cables are 2 different things. I currently have an Antec 750 truepower that has been running an Asus Matrix 7970 and a 3570k. It is basically non-modular and has crap cables, but to psu reviewers such as johnny guru, it is an excellent power supply. To me, my budget is too small for a $200 psu. I'm probably going to upgrade to an ax860 or something eventually, but its not on top of my list :)

Awesome build by the way! :)

Speaking of PSUs that come with sleeved cables, what brand/power supply would you recommend? I haven't even started to do my research into PSUs and their components.

Thanks!
