Old iPad vs Amazon fire tablet

I have an old 1st gen (pretty sure) iPad that is just feeling pretty long in the tooth. What do you guys think of the $50 amazon fire tablet? P.S. its $35 right now for black friday

Just saw it for $35 at best buy a few minutes ago, almost bought one for shits and gigs. You only get the amazon app store which may be rough depending on you and the display isnt great. If you dont like it then I guess you wasted $35, and you can just use it to browse the web or read.

I believe you can install the Play Store as well now.

And third party firmware such as Cyanogen are currently being worked on for it as well.

 

Personally, I wouldn't buy one until I could install a different firmware/OS on it. My old Kindle Fire HD 7 was essentially useless with the Amazon firmware and Cyanogen made it so much better.
