Monitor reccomendation for Grforce GTX 780M

So I am running an asus with a 780m gpu and I am getting a monitor since I would like a bigger display. I am strongly considering BenQ XL2720Z 144Hz 27 inch as my choice. I do like a wider looking screen but I do not know if it is possible to game on it and play at the resolution it is meant to be used. I would like to spend not more than 500euro ($530) any thoughts and recommendations will be considered. Even widescreens if It is possible to benefit from them :)
