Swapping Intel cpu+mobo for amd; questions.

Hi,

I'm going to swap my Intel 4690K and z97 mc mate motherboard

1) is there anything special I need to do? Or do I just basically unplug everything and put the new motherboard in?

2) I'm going to buy either a 8350 or 8500; which motherboard would be an equivalent to the z97, I will be over clocking

Main PC: 4690k // Z97 // R9 280 3GB // 8gb Ram // CM Elite 430 Case // 750 EVGA B PSU // 1TB HDD

Living Room "Console" PC: FX 8350 // 990a SLI Krait // R7 360 // 8gb Ram // HAF 912 // 750 EVGA B PSU // 1TB HDD

Future Plans:

find a 2nd monitor at a pawn shop

Sell/giveaway R7 360, move r9 280 into console PC, buy a better GPU for main PC.

WHY????

I really don't like to give you advise but to be polite:

just the other way round you build a pc: unplug everything, pull out gpu (remember there is sort of a clip on the mobo at the end of the pcie slot you have to push down in most cases to get it out), unscrew everything, pull the board out, remove i/o shield and do it the other way round to install the new (worse) combo

Why...? The i5 is better than both of those CPUs.

But why?..

Please don't your i5 is better.

Not for what I do.

Basically I run programs (for a personal business) that take 10% or so CPU.  I can run about 8-10, but the cpu % jumps to 100 when they restart.

Everyone in this business who runs an 8350 can run 15+.

Main PC: 4690k // Z97 // R9 280 3GB // 8gb Ram // CM Elite 430 Case // 750 EVGA B PSU // 1TB HDD

then you'd have also the chance to go with your board and take a xeon 1231v3 if you really need the extra "cores"/threads

EDIT: which programs are you running?

Or maybe you're* an idiot for assuming something without finding out what the actual purpose is.

Overclock. Fix your drivers. Troubleshoot your issues. Switching from the 2014 Intel platform to a 2011/2012 AMD platform is a waste in all circumstances.

And before calling someone an idiot, consider the idea of upgrading to a 4790(K) which would destroy any AMD processor in any application.

Edit: or grab a Xeon 1231v3 as the person above me said; also a better option than the FX platform.

Unnamed System: i5 4690K (4.2GHz) - MSI Z97I-AC - 8GB G.Skill DDR3 2400MHz - EVGA GTX 950 SSC - Raidmax Thunder V2 535W - Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ITX

I can say which programs, business reasons.

And yea the Xeon is a good choice too, but the program runs much better on AMD for some reason.  I don't want to switch either, I actually bought an intel over AMD because it was better.  I started the business use of it just 1 month ago.

I think an i7 or a xeon will perform better even if the programs favor AMD really. That is because those CPU's got new technology and stronger cores. And if you switch programs or do any other stuff the Intel ones will be better. I have a FX-8350 and its good enough but I would preffer an i7(Couldn't afford one when I got my system).
